Rural-Urban MN Twin Talks — Episode 3: Broadband & Community Service with Bree Maki

Episode 3, our June 2023 show, is now available, featuring our special guest Bree Maki, who was appointed by Gov. Tim Walz in October of 2022 to serve as the next Executive Director of the Minnesota Office of Broadband Development. (OBD)

Click on the episode below to view the 40 minute conversation, and if you want to find out the latest on Minnesota broadband grants and digital inclusion work, pop over to minute 20! (But the whole chat is worth your time if you need some inspiration for how to live a full and purpose-full life!)

Before joining OBD, Bree was the senior outreach director and state broadband and telecommunications outreach director for Minnesota US Senator Tina Smith (and prior to that for Senator Al Franken).

Bree’s strong roots to Southeast Minnesota provide a compass in her values and mission to provide all Minnesotans the tools, equity, and inclusion opportunities they need to achieve their personal and community goals. In the true form of serving her community as well as the state, Bree is also Chair of the Lewiston-Altura School Board and Chair of the Southeast Service Cooperative Board. We don’t know how she does it all — but she does and says, “I don’t really think of it that much that I’m that busy!”

We loved hearing about Bree’s approach to life and work, and her dedication to helping her fellow Minnesotans in so many ways at the local, state, and national levels. You will, too!
